Scottish-based haulier John G Russell (Transport) Ltd has fitted the first 100 of its 200-strong transport fleet with the InstantFit NECK-IT!¨ diesel fuel theft protection system from TruckProtect Ltd.
The remainder of the fleet will be fitted with InstantFit NECK-IT!¨ units in the near future.
The privately-owned company, whose fleet of DAF, ERF and Volvo trucks operate nationwide from five depots in Scotland, took the action to prevent fuel theft, which it is aware is a growing problem for transport operators in the UK and Europe.
Believing that prevention is always better than cure, John Russell has been looking for a suitable fuel anti-theft product for some time and says the InstantFit Neck-It was the first it has found that fitted the bill - it's simple and it works!
"Whilst we don't believe we have a problem with fuel theft it is clear that an increasing number of other transport companies do. We were not prepared to wait until it happened to us and decided to be prudent and take pro-active steps to prevent the problem," said John Russell.
"There are many fuel anti-theft products on the market and we checked a number out before selecting the TruckProtect device. I'm happy to report it was easy to fit, is cost effective and, most importantly, is doing the job. As a result, we will be fitting them to the entire fleet as soon as possible.
