New business from Aceona puts Meachers in the driving seat

When Kettering based supply chain management company, Aceona Management, won the contract from Virotec International to import an innovative new solution for wastewater treatment, it chose the Meachers Group as its logistics partner. Now, Meachers is undertaking clearance of containers at Southampton docks, devanning and delivering product to Wessex Water.

An independent fourth party logistics company, Aceona Management assembles supply chain components and suppliers according to the precise requirements of its customer. When approached by Virotec Europe to arrange for the importation from the USA of its state of the art technology, ViroFilter', Aceona knew it needed a logistics company with the necessary infrastructure to manage the movement of goods from port to destination.

"Meachers has an excellent management team and a first class reputation for service and reliability, which will compliment the quality ethos we adopt at Aceona", said Chris Drayson, Director of Aceona Management.

Following trials with Wessex Water ViroFilter(TM) is now being implemented full scale on site with a view of introducing into other Wessex Water sites longer term. Virotec Europe is actively testing the media with several other UK Water Companies at the present time.

"We have chosen Meachers to be our representative in the South and South West and may also use the company for logistics in the East Midlands", concluded Chris Drayson. "With a major facility close to the Port of Southampton as well as the necessary infrastructure, Meachers is providing us with a winning combination."

The trial by Wessex Water follows a six-month successful examination of Virofilter' by the Water Research Council. The Council confirmed the performance and the longevity of Virofilter(TM) and reviewed options for system design and configuration on future installations for the UK Water Companies. Developed by Virotec International, Virofilter(TM) technology provides a robust, simple and environmental solution for the removal of both phosphates and metals from the wastewater flow prior to effluent discharge. ViroFilter(TM) technology is a particularly favourable solution for the UK Water Companies in that the carbon footprint is nil.

Commenting, Gary Whittle, Commercial Director of Meachers Group, said: "Meachers won the Aceona account based on our excellent reputation for reliability, flexibility and our commitment to the business partnership. We look forward to expanding our relationship with the company as more water companies switch to Virofilter(TM)"
