New Hubtex picking truck hits the UK market

Following on from the enormous success, they have had with their Hubtex Two Man Picking Platforms for picking Worktops, International Decorative Surfaces (IDS) have improved their Distribution Operation even further with the introduction of yet another type of Picking Platform for picking Laminate Sheets. This new Hubtex truck is unique in the marketplace, which is described as a 2 Man Detachable Picking Platform. The truck has been introduced to further improve all aspects of the Laminate Picking operation. After the platform has been used for this purpose, it can be removed and the truck on it's own can then be used for the bulk handling of other materials within the warehouse.

The truck is unique in the fact that during the Picking operation, the truck can only be driven from the platform and as such, the operator has full control of the truck while at the pick face. The main reason for introducing the truck was that it offered a great leap forward in terms of safe working practice. Traditionally, only low level picking could be done safely and consequently the higher the pick height, the greater the challenge for this standard to be maintained. However, the new truck can pick at heights up to 8.5 metres with no safety compromise at all as the operators are safely secured to the platform at all times. In terms of Ergonomics, Laminate products can be picked and replenished at waist height which makes the operation very comfortable for both operators. As with other Hubtex trucks in the IDS CDC, the truck is wire guided. This system allows very high levels of picking in a very narrow aisle and the distance from operator to pick face is always a constant. Being right at the pick face allows high levels of picking accuracy and stock control is much easier to manage, as is stock taking. This system of picking also means that the best level of product care is possible. In summary, the safety, efficiency, accuracy and product care levels for operators to order pick Laminate Sheets has been improved dramatically and IDS will look forward to seeing further improvements in whole operation develop fully in the coming months.
