Next Generation Collaboration knowledge event on 29th april 2008

Swisslog (UK) Ltd has organised a Knowledge Event on Next Generation Collaboration, which will take place at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon on 29th April.

Collaboration is a concept with much resonance in the supply chain, yet its realisation has largely focused on the sharing of information for planning purposes. The resulting increase in supply chain velocity has put new pressures on the DC, and accepts inefficiencies as a price worth paying for responsiveness.

Store friendly deliveries, smaller deliveries, returns management and a push for stock holding towards the manufacturers are all issues which affect warehouse efficiency. A lack of collaboration and integration at this level raises issues for the future with pressure on labour costs and an increasing demand for smaller carbon footprints.

This Knowledge Event will look at how collaboration at Supply Chain Execution level can result in a more effective operation. It is aimed at supply chain directors, managers and logistics managers in the food & beverage, FMCG and retail sectors.

Speakers include Alan Smart, Lecturer Logistics & Supply Chain Management from Cranfield University, Christopher Savage, Principal Lecturer Transport and Logistics from Huddersfield University, David Williams, General Manager DHL/Exel and others. At the event speakers will profile trends, concepts, best practices, cases and rationale for investment.
