DSV strengthens business through acquisition of Roadferry
In a move that will further strengthen the company's strong position in the UK and Ireland, DSV Road Holding Limited announced recently that it has acquired Roadferry Limited in an approved takeover. DSV is confident the acquisition will deliver significant benefits to customers of both companies.
"This move will allow DSV to significantly enhance our service offering between Great Britain and Ireland," commented Rene Falch Olesen, Managing Director of DSV Road Limited in the UK. "We intend to invest in growing Roadferry while bringing the organisation into the DSV family."
Roadferry has two wholly-owned subsidiaries, Roadferry Transport Limited and Roadferry Transport (Ireland) Limited. Two thirds of the company's activities are located in Great Britain and one third in Ireland. The road logistics businesses of the two companies are complimentary to that of DSV and both management teams are confident this will be a very smooth integration process.
DSV intends to integrate Roadferry into its existing organisational structure within the UK and Ireland. Group Management expects this integration to create operational as well as administrative synergies. Throughout the initial integration, customers and employees of Roadferry will experience no major changes and Roadferry Managing Director Jim McGhee will take up a company director role within DSV. Within a few months DSV hopes to improve services and company procedures. The synergies are expected to be fully implemented within a two-year period.
DSV will also be able to add significant value through Roadferry's existing involvement and significant shareholding in Palletline, the leading British pallet consortium. Again, this relationship compliments DSV's current business and further strengthens the company's presence in Great Britain and Ireland.
