Dan’s primary task was to ‘steady the ship’ following a troublesome period with one particular account, however it soon became apparent that Dan had more to offer and within three months of joining Expect he had been promoted to the position of site manager.

“Dan is an extremely determined character, inwardly confident in his own abilities but able to communicate with his staff, build relationships and produce results,” says Neil Rushworth, Expect Distribution’s operations director.

Martin Goodwin, Century Logistics Ltd

Martin Goodwin joined Century Logistics in 2006 as a warehouse operative. After two and a half years, Martin’s work ethic saw him promoted to the role of joint supervisor.  Martin excelled in this position and, two years on, was elevated to the role of assistant contract manager which also required him to become site manager of a 36,000 sq ft warehouse employing 12 staff. Martin’s most recent promotion saw him take on the role of contract manager responsible for one of  Century’s most long standing clients.

Stephen Basey-Fisher, managing director of Century Logistics, stated  “Martin Goodwin has been a superlative member of our staff and shows great promise as a first class manager. He is forward-thinking and tenacious in his attitude to work and adapts enthusiastically to the changing needs of a dynamic marketplace, always puts the needs of the customers first.  He is also very conscious of supporting and encouraging his staff in their roles.”

Marie Rickets, Bibby Distribuiton

Marie Rickets began working for Bibby Distribution in 2008 as a part-time POD clerk. Over the past five years she has progressed in her role and is now administration and office manager. Marie has been in this managerial role for less than 12 months and is responsible for five full time employees but, when required, Marie deputises for the contract manager and assumes responsibility for some 40-50 people.

Among Marie’s achievements has been the implementation and development of a suite of KPIs for Bibby’s client, Kingspan, which detailed how the frequency, volume and geographical spread of deliveries impacted the cost of operations. The information collated has allowed Kingspan to introduce some notable efficiency measures.
