A visit to IMHX would not be complete without a detour to the Calor stand (Hall 20 – 20G90) to discover how the fuel supply experts can help you save money on your running costs, help meet business objectives and offer you the chance to walk away with an iPad.

CALOR-LPG

Calor’s forklift challenge returns offering visitors an opportunity to win on the spot prizes by guiding a remote control forklift truck through a series of obstacles and moving a load from one side of the track to the other.

The experts from Calor will offer advice on the best way to tackle the challenge as well as helping you decipher the best way to fuel your forklift fleet. A simple fuel cost calculator has been devised to easily demonstrate how much you could be saving by switching to Calor LPG determined by your fleet size and shift patterns.

Calor’s materials handling specialists will also explain the added benefits of LPG from helping businesses to meet their corporate social responsibility targets and how LPG stands up to being the long term fuel strategy compared to diesel and electric.

Visitors to the stand will also be able to see the full range of Calor’s ‘genius’ LPG fuelling solutions, making the decision to choose an LPG powered forklift even easier.

Calor’s forklift national account manager, Andy Kellett, adds: “The benefits of LPG have long been known in the industry. Cleaner and quieter than diesel and more powerful and convenient than electric, LPG offers many benefits and can dramatically reduce a fleet’s impact on the environment by both lowering harmful emissions and keeping noise levels to a minimum.

Calor has invested heavily in advancing its offering for forklift truck operators. Calor cylinders have been developed with Magnatract® technology, which eliminates the risk of fragmented metal particles within the cylinder blocking the valve or entering the engine which can interrupt fuel supply. A plastic dip tube is also used, which in contrast to traditional metal dip tubes, is designed for flexibility and will never fracture.

“Other advances Calor is making in the market include larger capacity fixed fuel tanks that  can reduce downtime, ‘date stamps’ that are placed on every single Calor forklift cylinder to ensure safety tests are carried out well in advance of their due date, and telemetry units which automatically notify Calor when a delivery is due meaning businesses should never have to worry about running out of gas.

“From an operational point of view, LPG avoids the lengthy charging periods and disposal costs associated with electric trucks. In addition, LPG does not present the same risks of contamination and clean up issues associated with diesel. And, as a cleaner burning fuel than diesel, LPG also benefits from reduced overall engine wear*. With lower carbon emissions, LPG trucks can also be used inside in sensitive environments as well as outside on more difficult terrains.”

* LPG continues to be acknowledged as an environmentally friendly and versatile fuel alternative without compromising performance achieving a 95 per cent reduction in NOx emissions compared to diesel. LPG powered FLTs produce, 2,000 per cent less NOx, 2 per cent less carbon dioxide and up to 120 times less small particle (PM10) emissions than diesel powered fleets. Small particle emissions are related to health effects including increased risk of heart and lung disease and problems such as asthma. All figures taken from the European Emission Test Programme (EETP) 2003.
