Northamptonshire-based Gem Logistics has been nominated for an Award  in a prestigious national competition which recognizes excellence in the UK logistics and warehousing industry.

The company, which operates a 250,000 sq ft storage facility in Raunds, Northamptonshire, is in the running to be named the United Kingdom Warehousing Association’s Best New Member 2013.

With nearly 700 members, the United Kingdom Warehousing Association (UKWA) is the leading trade body for the logistics sector and its awards are highly coveted within the industry that the association represents.

Gem joined UKWA recently. Before being accepted into the Association the company had to demonstrate that its facilities, service offering and business model met a number of key criteria laid down by UKWA.

The company not only passed the UKWA entry test, but so impressed the Association with the quality of its operation that Gem was immediately put forward  as a potential winner of the Association’s Best New Member Award.

Frank Ring, Gem’s Business Development Manager, commented: “We are delighted to have been recognized in this way. To be nominated for this award reflects very well on our company and, of course, our staff. We are delighted to receive this accolade”

The eventual winner will be announced at a ceremony at London’s Dorchester Hotel in July 2013.
